Position Summary

This individual will be a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineering Technician to support both ACH and ETI manufacturing operations. This position serves as a key link between Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure product quality, efficient manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement.

The Quality Engineering Technician will support customer RFQs, new product introductions, engineering changes, quality system requirements, troubleshooting efforts, corrective actions, and process improvements. This role provides hands-on technical support and helps maintain compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and support performance related to key quality metrics, including inspection yields, test yields, warranty issues, customer complaints, and corrective action timeliness.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Participate in internal and external quality audits.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
• Gather and analyze quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead or participate in problem-solving activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Work with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve supplier quality concerns.
• Serve as a customer-facing point of contact for quality-related issues, communicating directly with customers to address concerns, provide updates, and support satisfaction.
• Travel between company sites and to customer locations as needed to support audits, quality reviews, and issue resolution.
• Support and maintain quality system requirements including:
• Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system
• Temporary Authorizations
• Calibration system
• ISO 9001 Quality Management System
• Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews on new and existing products in accordance with customer, IPC, and industry standards.
• Support training efforts related to quality procedures and standards.
• Create, repair, and set up Cable-Eye (CAMI) continuity test fixtures and programs, including configuring testing for new product introductions.
• Troubleshoot board assembly issues down to the component level.
• Read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate builds and documentation.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and transitions into production.
• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes, including labor standards, workflow optimization, and capacity planning.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and product flow.
• Maintain accurate technical and production records within the ERP/MRP system.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Customer Service teams.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Quality, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of both PCB (printed circuit board) assembly and wire harness manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and quality systems preferred.
• Experience with quality audits and corrective action processes.
• Understanding of surface mount technology (SMT) and wave soldering processes.
• Familiarity with IPC standards for both PCB assembly and wire harness manufacturing (IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of manufacturing workflows and time/labor study principles.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as ShopWorx or similar.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Willingness and ability to travel between company facilities and to customer sites as required.
